E-Safety

Many children now have access to the internet which can be a valuable resource for supporting school work, or just for having fun! We have become aware that some of our pupils are accessing social networking sites such as Instagram, Facebook, Minecraft and You Tube. We appreciate that it may be hard for parents to monitor exactly what their child is doing when they are online, but we would urge you to be alert and proactive to ensure that your child stays safe. Legally speaking, children under 13 should not be using social networking sites at all, but it is important that children should be aware that there is certain information that they should never divulge on any websites. This includes:

  • Their full name
  • Their age
  • Their address
  • Their town/village
  • Their school – including pictures in school uniform which would identify the school
  • Their email address
  • Any specific information about their movements – dates, times and locations
