Learning & Teaching
We have revised our curriculum to meet the requirements of the 2014 National Curriculum. The National Curriculum lies at the heart of the education provided for our children. This is a national framework of aims and objectives upon which our teaching staff build, using their particular skills, to meet the individual requirements of all our children. Our topics have been put together to suit the needs of the children in our school and we emphasise the importance of cross-curricular links which help children to make connections between the different areas of learning.
Our Curriculum plans are outlined for each key stage: The Foundation Stage (children aged 4-5); Key Stage 1 (children aged 5-7); Key Stage 2 (children aged 7-11).
Our curriculum encourages children to share their work and their learning with their parents and we try to conclude our topics with special afternoons hosted by the children who invite their parents and carers to take part in the learning. These sessions have been valuable and enjoyable for children, carers and teachers and a fantastic opportunity for the children to show off their creativity. This term the Owls & Bluebirds have already shared their exciting work on Ancient Egypt & Our Country. The Eagles are looking forward to sharing their Design & Technology work at the end of the term.
